Privacy Notice
1. Who we are and the purpose of this Privacy Notice
We are Inspired Education Holdings Limited (“Inspired”), with company registration number 10392529 and registered office address: Sixth Floor, 3 Burlington Gardens, London, W1S 3EP. Inspired Education operates numerous schools globally and the Global Study Platform (“GSP”), along with mobile application and other applications (“the Platform”), which is made available to staff, parents and pupils across our schools.

Under applicable data protection legislation Inspired is the controller of your personal data collected via the Platform and the individual tools (including Finance hub, Parent Helper and other applications we may make available from time to time) that sit within the Platform.

2. What personal information we collect, how we collect it and our purposes and lawful grounds for doing so
We collect personal data when you sign up / log in to the Platform or when data is transferred from the other systems used by Inspired and your school (e.g. Canvas and iSAMS) and combined on the Platform. We also collect data that you may choose to upload to the Platform, or that may be uploaded by a teacher or staff member.

Pupils
  • Names, e-mail addresses and other contact details;
  • Log-in details; school / location and language;
  • Course enrolment and course details; academic information including grades, performance and feedback; timetable and attendance; rewards and conduct; school reports;
  • Photograph (if you choose to provide it); voice recordings and text discussions (where you use the Platform for these purposes).

Purposes for processing: To provide you with access to the Platform to enable you to use it while you are enrolled at your school (e.g. to see details of your subjects and courses, submit coursework and other assignments and track your performance including in assessments) and to enable us to support your learning, monitor and report on your progress.

Lawful basis for processing: It is necessary for our legitimate interests in providing a system to improve your experience of education which is accessible and effective.

Parents / carers / guardians
  • Names, e-mail addresses and other contact details;
  • Log-in details, school / location and language; voice recordings and text discussions (where you use the Platform for these purposes).

Purposes for processing: To provide you with access to the Platform to enable you to be informed of your child's educational progress to answer your questions, and to support provision of services made available by the school (e.g. extra-curricular activities).

Lawful basis for processing: It is necessary for the performance of the parent contract to which you are a party and/or it is necessary for our legitimate interests in providing a system which enables you to access information including about your child's educational progress.

Staff and consultants
  • Names, school e-mail addresses and other contact details;
  • Log-in details, school / location and language.
  • Photograph (if you choose to provide it); voice recordings and text discussions.

Purposes for processing: To facilitate your access to and use of the Platform.

Lawful basis for processing: It is necessary for our legitimate interests in enabling our staff to deliver educational programmes in an accessible and effective manner and deliver information relating to the education of pupils to their parents / carers.

Platform usage information

In addition, for all Platform users we collect IP address, technical data (e.g. time stamps); location information; information about the computer or device from which you access the Platform; click stream/heat map data showing utilisation of the Platform.

We or our service providers may use this data to analyse performance metrics and to monitor and track application errors and to analyse, to develop, improve, secure or optimise the use, function and performance of the Platform, to create anonymised and aggregated information and analytics. Wherever possible, we will use usage data in an aggregated and/or anonymised form. Where we process personal data for these purposes we do so in connection with our legitimate interests in providing and improving user access to the Platform.

Consent

As we explain above, it will generally be the case that we rely on lawful grounds other than consent for the processing of personal data on the Platform. There may, however, be particular GSP tools or use cases where we consider it appropriate or necessary to seek parental and/or pupil consent for the particular processing of personal data involved. In these circumstances parental consent will be sought on behalf of pupils below the age of 13 (unless applicable law specifically requires otherwise).

3. Who personal data may be shared with
We share personal data collected on the Platform with other Inspired group entities, including in particular the school with which you are connected / which you attend.

We also work with a select number of trusted external service providers who support or work with us in the provision of information technology services and analytics, and may assist us in the improvement and optimisation of the Platform and the development of new tools. These third parties with whom we work are carefully selected and meet high data protection and security standards and any arrangements involving the sharing of personal data are subject to appropriate safeguards and data processing obligations.

In addition we may also share your personal information with third parties such as:
  • our professional advisers or third parties and their advisers in the event of a possible or actual sale, merger or other restructuring or financing of the Inspired group; or
  • where requested or required by regulators or statutory / other competent authorities.

Where data is transferred internationally (ie outside the UK and/or EEA), we will put in place appropriate measures to ensure the adequate protection of your personal data when it is transferred to countries that do not provide the same level of protection for personal data, and ensure that international transfers are carried out in accordance with applicable data protection law.

4. How long we retain data
Your personal information, including voice recordings and text discussions disclosed through the use of the Platform, will only be retained for the period of time required to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected unless a longer time is required to meet regulatory or legal requirements or for archiving / research and statistical purposes. In such cases of longer term archiving, research and statistical processing, we will put in place suitable data minimisation procedures. This will include removing the data from day-to-day processing and putting in place appropriate access restrictions.

5. AI Tools
Certain tools / apps within the Platform use artificial intelligence technology (“AI”) - for example, Parent Helper. Any personal data that is collected for the purposes of these tools will be processed in accordance with this Privacy Notice.

In the case of prompts or questions which parents / carers voluntarily choose to input (eg in the form of questions submitted via Parent Helper) you should only input personal data of your or your child that is necessary for the purpose of your question.

We do not currently use AI for solely automated decision making (ie to take decisions about individuals without human involvement). Should there be any substantive changes to our policy on usage of AI this will be duly notified to you.

6. Your personal data rights
You have a number of rights in relation to your personal data. These are:
  • The right of access: You may request a copy of the personal data that we hold about you.
  • The right to rectification: You may ask us to correct any information we hold about you if it is incorrect.
  • The right to erasure: You may ask us (in certain circumstances) to delete information that we hold on you.
  • The right to restrict processing: You may ask us to restrict our data processing activities (and, where our processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent, without affecting the lawfulness of our processing based on consent before its withdrawal).
  • The right to data portability: You may ask us (in certain circumstances) to transfer your personal data to another data controller in a format that makes it easy for them to use.
  • The right to object: You may object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to any of our particular processing activities where you feel this has a disproportionate impact on your rights.

Please note that the above rights are not absolute, and we may be entitled to refuse requests where exceptions apply. We will endeavour to respond to any such requests as soon as reasonably practicable and in any event within legal time limits. 7. Updates to this Privacy Notice
We may need to update this Privacy Notice periodically, so we recommend that you review this information from time to time.
